Legal Compliance

We manage the legal complexities behind online notarizations so your employer doesn’t have to. Online notarizations are legal and valid in all 50 states.

U.S. interstate recognition laws and practices mean a document signed with Notarize is recognized in all states. The Notarize platform is available for signers to use in any of the 50 states.

Your employer can use IHN if their staff notaries meet state requirements for the states Notarize is available for notaries in (see the map to the right). If your state isn't on our list yet, employers can still use Notarize through the On-Demand Notary capability.

As pioneers in the space, we pride ourselves in working closely with federal and state governments to continue to make online notarization accessible. We are constantly working to add more states, so let us know if your state isn't here yet!

As a notary working on behalf of a business through IHN, you can be located in these 30 states:

Active IHN States: Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin

How It Works

Our platform is built to help your employer and their business thrive.

For the Employer

Your employer will be able to collect notarized documents in one place, improving the way the firm or business operates. Your employer simply logs into Notarize and sends documents to be notarized via a secure email link.

For YOU - the Notary

The signer opens the email and clicks the link. They go through a three-step identity verification process to ensure validity of the transaction. You (the notary) and the signer will then meet in a secure online meeting on our platform where you’ll perform the notarization.

For the Signers

Signers can receive and sign notarizations - anytime, anywhere. Employees and signers can now notarize documents remotely, in just a few minutes.

Not  what you need? We can still help!

Would your business benefit from 24x7 access to online notaries? Notarize helps thousands of companies save time and money through our award-winning eSignature and online notarization tools.
* These solutions do not allow signing agents and mobile notary businesses to notarize on the platform.
