Notaries public in Texas can now apply to serve their communities as commissioned online notaries. This commission will allow you to complete electronic notarizations completely online through a secure, two-way video call.

Current Texas notaries can apply to become an online notary public through the Secretary of State's Office. You can find the application and its requirements here.

As of May 15, 2020, notaries must submit a request to the Secretary of State's Office to conduct remote notarizations. As part of this request, you will need to select an online notarization solution provider – like Notarize.

Notarizing Documents on the Notarize Platform

Recently, Notarize announced that it opened the Notarize platform to Texas notaries in two ways: as an independent contracted notary working for Notarize or for businesses with employee notaries.

All notaries that use the Notarize platform must meet similar minimum compliance standards. Therefore, whether you are an independent contractor notary or a notary employed by a business using Notarize, you will follow the same application process to access our platform.
