Notarize wins Best in Show at Digital Mortgage Conference

It’s an honor to win Best in Show at this year’s Digital Mortgage Conference.

Despite frequent requests to demo our product at other conferences, we made a decision that we wouldn't demo until we were live, in market, closing loans every day. With the launch of Notarize for Mortgage in August, we’ve done just that and it’s so gratifying that the audience voted Notarize Best in Show.

It was a terrific conference and a great day for Notarize. Mat Ishbia, CEO of our partner United Wholesale Mortgage, kicked the day off with his vision for how technology will empower brokers across the country. A big part of that: online closings with Notarize! A few key quotes from Mat’s presentation:

“Notarize.com. Go find them, they’ll change your business.”

“This is not the future - this is actually happening.”

“This is the way all closings will be done in three years.”

We then did a live demo, showing how we’re closing loans online today with UWM, Stewart Title and others. The audience either loved the demo or the McLovin cameo. Either way, they voted it Best in Show amongst a long list of other great products and live demonstrations.

With the launch of our Mortgage API earlier this week, we’re now starting to scale our online closings and borrowers are loving it. As Mat Ishbia said in his presentation:

“Ease is for everyone. Time matters to everybody. Speed matters to everybody. The majority of people, they adopt technology. They want to make it easy. And if you’re not thinking that your clients are going to want to do it, you’re not thinking right about it.”

Thank you everyone for your votes! Much much more to come.

You have notarization questions, we have notarization answers. While we at Notarize pride ourselves on providing helpful resources (like this blog!) to demystify notarization, we’re not lawyers and don’t give legal advice. Pro tip: always check with your own attorneys, advisors, or document recipients if you have further questions about notarization or digitally notarized docs.

What You Need to Know About Papering Out and Recording Electronic Records

The entire real estate industry has seen a massive shift in excitement as it moves towards a world of remote online notarizations and fully online real estate closings. Thousands of homes have already been bought and sold online with the help of progressive underwriters and counties that are accepting electronic-recording, or eRecordings.

Until recently, you could only complete an end-to-end digital closing if your property was in an eRecording county. But as of January 1, 2020, a total of 10 states now have laws that allow recording entities, at their option, to record a true and complete paper printout of an electronic document.
