Notarize Welcomes Liz Graham as Chief Operating Officer
When we launched Notarize in 2015, we set out to jumpstart a stagnant notarization industry. Along the way, we’ve changed laws, partnered with some of the best in the business, and learned a ton about what it means to bring an online notary platform to millions of people around the world.
As we embark on our next stage of growth, I’m excited to welcome Liz Graham to Notarize as the company’s Chief Operating Officer.
Liz previously served as Vice President of Sales and Service at Wayfair, where she managed global customer service and sales operations teams that built a center of excellence around their customers. Her team won five Stevie Awards, tripled monthly revenue, and scaled globally from 750 to 3,500 employees.
With big opportunity comes big responsibility. Serving thousands of consumers and businesses around the world means we need to continue to deliver 5-star service and uptime, at all times. It means we need to maintain the highest level of security and innovation, and remain the source of trust for life’s more important moments - and to do so at scale.
We take seriously our ambition to become a platform that entire industries rely upon and Liz knows exactly what it takes to build operational excellence at scale. I am confident she will help build a winning playbook that defines and energizes our next chapter.
Adam Pase, Co-Founder and former COO, will now lead as Chief Strategy Officer, overseeing business development and expansion into new channels and markets.
Adam joined Notarize three years ago, back when only the state of Virginia accepted online notarization. He traveled the country with me over thousands of miles, championed the adoption of new laws, helped sign on lead investors and our largest and most critical partners to date, including Redfin, Realogy, Lennar, and many others, which make up more than 30% of all real estate transactions. Without him, we wouldn’t be where we are today. And with his continued leadership, we will continue to transform how industries operate.
We’ve seen tremendous growth and adoption in the past year, including the country’s first end-to-end digital Will. Transactions on the Notarize platform grew 137% year-over-year from signers located in every continent around the world except Antarctica, and the pace is only accelerating as we grew more than 20% in just the last month. We’ve championed model legislation in 10 states - with 23 to be considered in 2019 - and helped victims of natural disasters, persons with disabilities, and others who find themselves in moments of need.
As it turns out, bringing the notarial act into the digital age provides far more benefit than convenience alone. It’s transformed how many of our country’s largest industries operate. Businesses which were reliant on paper and shipping documents can now operate faster and more efficiently - saving time and money while lessening our environmental impact.
What’s both remarkable and challenging about Notarize, I’ve learned, is that there is no playbook or copy-and-paste model for what we are building. To build a world-class business that transforms industries requires a playbook of its own, and at its heart, great people.
We believe 2019 will be our best year yet. Adam and I are incredibly excited to work with Liz on the future of Notarize.
